This was some of the fluffiest snow I've seen in a long time. The picture doesn't do it justice. |

Since this was taken, the tree is gone; Christmas is officially over. Time to get back to everyday life. |

I'll miss our Christmas tree. It was a nice one this year.
I'm not sure that I like what I did with this picture, but I'm done playing with it. |

| 202/365 tagged...16 things shannonpix posted a photo:

I was tagged by Nicole and Kim, so here goes.
1.My family moved around a lot while I was growing up. I absolutely hated it at the time, but now I’m thankful for all the experiences, all the different places I’ve seen, people I’ve met.
2.I’m painfully shy IRL (something that's often misconstrued as something else). Moving so much as a kid made it worse than it would’ve been otherwise. I got to a point where I just started putting up walls because I didn’t want to make friends that I’d have to leave again after a year. It’s a hard thing to change.
3.I never thought I’d be one of “those people” who has on-line friends, but I’ve met some amazing people who share a lot of common interests. For that I’m very grateful.
4.I have a degree in Chemical Engineering that I’ve never used. By graduation I realized I really didn’t want to work in a chemical plant, wearing a hard hat every day. (I also couldn’t find a job out of school, so that made me look for other opportunities.)
5.I consider New Orleans my hometown, since I lived in that area the longest growing up. I love the city, but haven’t been back in almost 6 years now.
6.People are often surprised to find out I’m from the south since I don’t have a southern accent. (My years in Rhode Island quashed it completely.)
7.I got both braces and glasses when I was 10. I was the geekiest little girl ever. I got the braces off when I was 12 but the glasses stayed until I was 16.
8.Along with the glasses, I was also the brainy one. I was valedictorian of my high school.
9.My favorite car I ever had was a green VW beetle. It lost its allure after hitting a deer on the way to work a few years ago.
10.I have a completely benign thyroid nodule on the right side of my neck. It looks like an adam’s apple when I swallow.
11.I love love love clothes and shoes. But I’m finding in my still new role as a stay-at-home mom that I really shouldn’t wear anything that’s not completely comfortable and kid-friendly.
12.I don’t feel like me yet again since having my second baby. I’m 20 pounds heavier than when I got pregnant, still wearing maternity clothes, hardly ever wear makeup anymore. I’ve been just really lazy. I’m hoping to start to get back on track after the holidays. I miss me.
13.I never used to like little kids until I had my own. It’s not that I didn’t like them, but didn’t know how to relate to them. It’s different now.
14.I learned how to snowboard 3 winters ago and loved it. I spent the next 2 winters pregnant. Now I think I have to wait until my kids are old enough to ski/snowboard before I can go back.
15.I’ve never gotten a speeding ticket, but not for lack of speeding.
16.My husband is my best friend and I feel like the luckiest girl for having him. |

Our living room has been without furniture since we finished our basement and moved our couch down there. We finally got a chair, and Cooper has already claimed it for himself. That's why we bought a Cooper-colored chair. |

I like it. I used this picture that no one else seemed to like but me. Well, one other person liked it. :) |

It's been absolutely freezing these last few days. I woke up this morning with no hot water. Just a continuation of the previous sucky night. I was able to find a bright spot though - literally - with the sun hitting all the gorgeous frost that covered everything, making it sparkle.

| 194/365 o sucky night shannonpix posted a photo:

Not a good night... My husband had to go out of town today for the first time since our son was born. It was freezing cold all day, never got out of the single digits. Our brand new furnace stopped working. To top that off, it appears we have a frozen water line.
Thankfully the HVAC guy came and solved the furnace problem so it's finally warmed back up in the house. And hopefully I'll get a plumber to come in the morning to figure out the frozen pipe. I just hope it doesn't burst...
I finally got the kids in bed, so now I can just lay around and admire our half-decorated Christmas tree. The lights are the best part anyway. |
